Need to run to Aldi - company's coming!
Hmmm, hope that they have some pork tenderloins this time. It will be a big shopping time - need to feed the company and get some basics too.

Kid's play tent
I went into Aldi last night for milk and salad (they have the best bags of salad!!!) I ended up walking out with a few extra things - the strangest was the kid's tent. It was reduced to $6.99 so I figured it was worth trying out!
I think that I will make this a recurring theme: strangest thing that I purchased at Aldi. Should make shopping fun!

New Aldi in St. Cloud
Everyone is excited to have a new Aldi in St. Cloud. We normally shop in another town, but we are often in St. Cloud and it is really nice having another Aldi option! We picked up a few supplies last weekend - bread, milk (always), some cereal and oatmeal.
So far, I'm doing great on my goal - I haven't shopped at a different grocery store since the week after Thanksgiving! Let's see if I can keep it up for Christmas dinner - luckily Aldi has extra products for the holidays which makes it easier to buy everything that I need.

Obama Pizza
During the Presidential race, I had a dream that Barack Obama came to my house to prepare for a speech. I'm not sure why he was giving a speech in Foley, but it made sense at the time. The now-President worked on his speech, I chatted with the now-First Lady, and their daughters played with baby Matthew. As the evening got late, Mr. Obama finished his speech and we all realized that they would need to find a place to sleep. Without any hotels close by, I offered them our extra bed and an air mattress for the girls. I knew that I didn't have anything to serve four extra dinner guests but luckily I remembered that Aldi was only minutes away (30 minutes in real life) I sent my husband out with explicit instructions to buy "the GOOD pizza - the ALDI pizza" He came home with several Mama Cozzi's pizzas and we all had a fabulous dinner together.
If Aldi pizza was good enough for the President, it is definitely good enough for us!

Post-Thanksgiving restocking
After clearing out most of my pantry and cupboards, I headed to Aldi to restock. I really thought that I'd be way over $200 especially with rock salt, diapers and lots of meat, but I wasn't even close! Only $179 and a cart so full that I couldn't pack on any more.
One great find this week was the Black Forest ham - $9 for a 3lb ham. I bought one and sliced it up for the best lunchmeat ever! I may need to go back for more and keep them in the freezer.
On my way to return my shopping cart, I met another woman on her way to pick up a cart. We both looked at each other, she held out her quarter and we both said "Trade?" at the same time :) I saved a few steps in the windy evening, and she got a nice warm cart - a win, win, win!
